This is good information Heath and I am sure it will be very useful in helping those understand if they really need an IP solution. However, I did hear that an IP camera can function as its own individual recording device due to the dact that it does come with NVR software that can be downloaded. Can you fact check please?

Great post, Heath. Am I right in my understanding that IP cameras can slow down your internet speed, if you have too many of them?

Now I have been reading a lot of blogs lately, but I say this is one of te best informative ones I have laid eyes on. This is prtobably one of the major if not the major reason why people are buying surveillance systems these days. You no longer have to sit by the actual DVR, but instead remote in via a PC or a cell phone. Rob, I know for a fact you have helped me and will help many by putting this information out there. Thank you so much!

Thank you Steven for this information. I sometimes get confused on what cable to use in a certain application and why some customers may prefer pre cut cable. But I also heard that it is better to use the crimp on connectors than the twist on. However, this helps me out a lot in understanding cable and connections.

This is great information for an end user ar an installer that is not versed on ir illuminators. Also people are always looking for new ways and technology to enhance night vision amongst their cameras. It is good to know that IR illuminators are still the best way to go for night vision.
