Aberration


Aberration

A term (from optics) that refers to anything affecting the accuracy of the image when compared with the original scene.

Some things that create aberrations are:
Sub-optimal power reaching a camera, especially infrared cameras
Dirt or dust on the camera lens
Dirt or dust on the camera housing
Improperly configured compression or recording quality settings
An image size that is too small
Cabling that is poorly shielded or unshielded
Poor CPU performance on a DVR
The list goes on and on…
